SARS SCAM ALERT: “Settlement Notification – Action Required” Email

SARS issued a new alert to taxpayers on a new phishing scam that is doing the rounds in email form. The email carries the subject line:
‘Settlement Notification – Action Required by 13 October 2025’
It threatens legal action if a payment isn’t made by that date and urges you to open a PDF attachment containing fraudulent bank details.
⚠️ Do NOT click on the attachment or make any payment. This is not a legitimate SARS communication.
📌 How to protect yourself:
Never click on suspicious links or attachments.
Only use official SARS channels to make payments.
